SGRoA: Forever Knight S02 E04: Bad Blood

SGRoA post 27 of 122

Snowflakes! I’m late, I know. This week got away from me, and I don’t even know how. I think it’s the weather. This:

Tornado

has been happening all week. That particular photo is about a mile from my house, yesterday afternoon. It’s not snow, which we got for Memorial Day last year, but snow can’t really kill you in May, so, you know. Half of one, six dozen of the other, as my best friend would say. Recap! Continue reading

SGRoA post 26 of 122

Morning, lovelies! I hope everyone who celebrated had a wonderful Mothers’ Day. I got to go out for Chinese and a scary movie – Oculuswhich I can’t recommend enough to fans of ghost stories and psychological horror. I also got about four inches of snow, but such is life in the Rockies. Let’s recap!

We open in New Orleans, 1899. A woman in a nightgown is brushing her hair in a room full of fog and candles. A man comes in, and through their dialogue, we know that she’s engaged to another dude and can’t call it off. They start making out, and dude’s got fangs! A voice over begins, and the woman in the nightgown turns out to be an author, Emily, reading from her latest release on a television interview show. Continue reading

SGRoA: Forever Knight S02 E02: A Fate Worse Than Death

SGRoA post 25 of 122

No commentary on this one, kids, so no one will be yawning in my ear. Nope, it’s all just sexxxy sexxxy whores. Let’s get to it!

Big Band Jazz is playing, and a redhead is putting her lipstick on. She’s dressed in a black teddy and a robe. Her lover – a middle-aged dude in a suit who seems not quite sober – comes into the room, only to find her shot twice and super dead. Continue reading

SGRoA: Forever Knight S02 E01.5: Killer Instinct, Commentary Edition

SGRoA post 24 of 122

Well, kids, it’s my commentary on the commentary. That’s right.

Commentaryception.

Commentaryception.

Ok. So, as I covered last time, Geraint is pronounced with a hard G, and all the flying scenes were shot with remote-controlled helicopters. Apparently, they crashed Continue reading

SEASON TWO!!!!!!!! I’m hoping the show gets more consistent, but I’m also jazzed because the very first episode of this season has a commentary track by co-creator and executive producer James D. Parriott and Nick Knight himself, Geraint Wyn Davies. Do I dare turn that on? I think I do, Snowflakes. I think I dare indeed.

Oh, but they talk over everything. Hmm. But I have learned that the flying scenes were filmed by little remote-control helicopters. And that Geraint is pronounced with a hard G, not a soft one, like I’ve been saying for twenty years. Sorry, Mr. Davies!

You know what, Snowflakes? I think this calls for two recaps. I’ll do my normal shtick, and then I’ll come back and recap the commentary. What do you think? Good idea? Terrible one? Are you guys even reading these? Continue reading

SGRoA: Forever Knight S01 E22: Love You To Death

SGRoA post 22 of 122

SNOWFLAKES! It’s the season finale! Are you ready? Can you handle it? The episode synopsis promises to reveal “the ghastly event which turned Nicholas against Lacroix forever.” Huh. And here I thought it was spelled “Nicolas”, being as he’s French, and all. Oh, well. Onward!

Ooh, “sexy” “music” and candle-lighting. Rose petals in a bubble bath. I remember this one, though not the “ghastly event”. A woman is dressing, or being dressed – her nails are painted by someone else – and then she’s in a park, sitting on a bench. Of course, she’s dead. Some kids playing pickup stickball find this out, and I’m sure that’s not going to result in any therapy bills at all. Continue reading

SGRoA: Forever Knight S01 E21: Fatal Mistake

SGRoA post 21 of 122

Anyone else singing Sheryl Crow now? “You’re my fatal mista-a-ake!” My fatal mistake was thinking I could work Holy Week at a Catholic church and still get my writing done. Even this recap is late. Sorry, guys. Next week we’ll be right on time for your Thursday enjoyment.

We open on a Canadian convenience store. Stonetree’s fat-shaming himself at the cooler when two guys pull a gun on the cashier. Stonetree hears the robbery going down, and tells them to put the gun on the counter and walk away. They don’t, obviously. Stonetree chases them out, and one goes over a fence. The other one’s cornered by the cap’n and his drawn gun, but the first guy fires from behind Number 2. Stonetree returns fire and kills the guy, and now it looks like he just shot some unarmed dude for fun. Which I would expect of American police, but not of Canadians! Canada’s so polite, I bet their cops actually protect and serve. Continue reading

SGRoA: Forever Knight S01 E20: If Looks Could Kill

SGRoA post 20 of 122

Good Morning, Snowflakes! Are any of you Drop Dead Diva fans? The show is silly, but fun, and this weekend the original Nick Knight himself guest-starred! That’s right: Rick Springfield was on as an aging rock star trying to keep his band together. It was a touching story of friendship and Parkinson’s disease, and the whole hour, I made Forever Knight jokes.

Let’s get to it, shall we?

We open on a department store makeup counter. A woman approaches, and the pushy-ass saleslady is in her face immediately. The woman gets all weirded out, and ends up shooting the saleslady. For which I can hardly fault her. Pushy salespeople make me break out in hives, yo. The woman gets shot by a mall cop, which – what? Canadian rent-a-cops have guns? This sounds like a terrible idea to me, and I’m not anti-gun. Anyway, she’s dead at the makeup counter, and the credits roll. Continue reading
